Highlights - Aerosol Sampling
ANSTO has been tracking and publishing data on fine particle pollution from key sites around Australia, and internationally, for more than 20 years.
Dynamic real-time video captures how surfaces are modified by nuclear techniques
Understanding corrosion in concrete sewer pipes
Using neutron imaging techniques at ANSTO, researchers from Macquarie University have gained a better understanding of how corrosion forms and spreads through concrete that is commonly used in sewer pipes.
Giving waste plastics a second life as high-performance materials
A new study has shown that, rather than being discarded, plastics can be transformed into valuable carbon nanomaterials that help solve both energy and environmental challenges.
Antarctic expedition to seek natural air cleanser in the ice sheet
ANSTO is participating in a major project to learn more about an important component of the atmosphere, the hydroxyl radical.
Profile
Molecular scaffold
Experiments at the Synchrotron enable researchers to produce a 3D structure of a molecular scaffold with role in cancer
3D structure of a molecular scaffold determined
Melbourne researchers have used the Australian Synchrotron to produce structure of molecule known to play a critical role in the development and spread of aggressive cancer.
Advanced Diffraction & Scattering Beamlines (ADS-1 and ADS-2) UNDER CONSTRUCTION
The Advanced Diffraction and Scattering beamlines (ADS-1 and ADS-2) are two independently operating, experimentally flexible beamlines that will use high-energy X-ray diffraction and imaging to characterise the structures of new materials and minerals.
Hot Isostatic Pressing
Hot Isostatic Pressing supports advanced manufacturing by increasing a material's density and reducing porosity. This capability complements ANSTO’s extensive suite of instruments and techniques for characterising materials and final products.
Reconstructing a history of palaeoclimate in south-eastern Australia
The role of trace elements as palaeoclimate proxies has been explored in ANSTO-led collaborative environmental research.
Next-gen wearable electronic devices
Ultra-flexible electronics has many potential applications within areas such as for example the military, healthcare and energy.
Do you really know where your food comes from?
Waste Production and Consumables
ANSTO provides a summary of waste production and consumables for FY2024 - FY2025

United Uranium Scholarship - Guidelines
This scholarship recognises outstanding ability and promise in the field of nuclear science and technology, specifically as it applies to nuclear energy. Successful applicants will demonstrate a history of interest in nuclear energy and a desire to continue this interest.
Micro-Computed Tomography beamline (MCT)
With enhanced submicron spatial resolution, speed and contrast, the Micro-Computed Tomography beamline opens a window on the micron-scale 3D structure of a wide range of samples relevant to many areas of science including life sciences, materials engineering, anthropology, palaeontology and geology. MCT will be able to undertake high-speed and high-throughput studies, as well as provide a range of phase-contrast imaging modalities.
