Beamline Scientist - Infrared Microscpectroscopy (IRM)

Dr Annaleise Klein is a beamline scientist at the Australian Synchrotron in Clayton, working as part of the team responsible for the infrared microspectroscopy (IRM) beamline since April 2020.

Prior to this position, Annaleise spent over 3 years as a post-doctoral associate in a research group focussed on understanding the mechanisms of interactions between minerals and organic compounds at the molecular level. Her project specifically was to investigate the abiotic dephosphorylation of natural organophosphates (e.g. ribonucleotides) mediated by iron (oxyhydr)oxides. It was during this time that her passion for working hands-on with laboratory equipment and analytical instruments was solidified.
