Dr Pria Ramkissoon
Beamline scientist

Role at ANSTO

Pria is a beamline scientist at the Australian Synchrotron, specialising in Medium Energy X-ray Absorption Spectroscopy on the MEX-1 and MEX-2 beamlines. In her role, she contributes to the development of beamline capabilities and provides support to a diverse range of users from industry and academia in their experimental work. Her expertise in photophysics and optical instrumentation is a key asset in delivering high-quality data for users.

Pria’s primary area of expertise is in materials spectroscopy, backed by a strong background in organometallic chemistry and advanced optical spectroscopy. Her PhD research focused on the exciton dynamics in transition metal and lanthanoid materials, with the goal of improving the design of luminescent probes for photochemical and electrochemical imaging applications. Following her PhD, Pria completed a postdoctoral fellowship within the Ultrafast and Microspectroscopy Lab at the University of Melbourne and ARC Centre of Excellence in Exciton Science. There, she developed spectroscopic methods to observe delayed fluorescence in specialised molecules, contributing to the advancement of OLED technology and solar energy conversion.

Expertise

Advanced materials spectroscopy (upconversion, downshifting, quantum cutting, thermally activated delayed fluorescence) and electrogenerated chemiluminescence.
