Energy and resources
The energy landscape is rife with innovation as the world attempts to transition to generating, storing and using energy in an environmentally friendly and economically efficient way. Australia is primary industry heavy, with a wealth of natural resources there are ample opportunities to find efficient ways to extract resources from the Earth to use in energy systems and devices. Effective energy generation, storage and use often relies on the development and optimisation of functional materials involved in these systems and devices.
ANSTO’s landmark infrastructure provides a wide range of capabilities that enable characterisation and in depth analysis of materials for energy applications. Analysing material structure and function as well as behaviour of systems while in operation allows for in depth understanding of mechanisms of use and thus enables further development to improve technologies to be viable or more efficient and long-lasting.
